The
WordAlone executive committee held a supper meeting on August 17th at a local
restaurant. We carried on the usual
business, receiving the report of our last meeting held on July 17th at St.
Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Oregon.
The
general meeting, to which the public was invited at 7:00 pm, was held the
same evening at St. Matthew. The speaker was Pastor Eric Burtness, Senior Pastor
at St. Matthew, who gave answers to questions prepared for him concerning:
"What will happen to Solid Rock
Lutherans?"; "More information
about
the Youth Encounter Convo to be held in '06"; "Would it be possible to
have a Seminary using the internet?"; and "Have some larger churches
joined the LCMC?" The meeting held in the evening was no doubt the
best attended meeting we have yet held in Oregon. Pastor Burtness did an
excellent job of responding to the above questions and also to those related to
the results of the ELCA CWA held at Orlando. - Pastor Bob Ward
