A RESOLUTION CONCERNING HUMAN SEXUALITY STUDY

Whereas, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is currently engaged in a study on human sexuality called "JOURNEY TOGETHER FAITHFULLY." and

Whereas, present policy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Americ requires all single rostered persons to abstain from sexual relationships, and

Whereas, there are proposals by some to adopt the blessing of same-sex unions, and

Whereas, proposed changes in current policy could result in deep divisions within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, therefore be it

Resolved, that this Synod Assembly go on record as affirming the current policy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; and be it further

Resolved, that the South Carolina Synod Council be instructed to review the South Carolina Synod's budget to significantly fund the Commission on Inclusiveness so that the synod, through the commission, promotes and encourages inclusivity of all people at the baptismal font and the Lord's table; and be it finally

Resolved, that the secretary of Synod be directed to inform the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's "Task Force For ELCA Studies on Sexuality" of this action.
